|Six precious wooden tables
After they were moved to the Belvedere by library personnel – probably on top of the lift cage - decades ago, they have been standing on the top floor of the Book Tower: six precious wooden tables designed by Henry van de Velde. Ever since a new lift was installed, it had been impossible to take them down again and they remained up there, confined to the Belvedere...
...until today, March 17th, 2011. Using the outdoor lift built for the restoration of the tower, they were moved down at last and are now ready for a thorough treatment by the university's facility department, after which they will serve as worktables for the university library's ever increasing student population.
