Book tower design team credits (www.boekentoren.be)
For the Book Tower's complex restoration Robbrecht &  Daem Architects have called upon a multidisciplinary team of designers:

Restoration advice: Barbara Van der Wee Architects
Brussels
info@barbaravanderwee.be
Barbara Van der Wee's team is specialized in the restoration and redesignation of valuable nineteenth and twentieth century historic buildings, most of which are protected monuments and/or included on UNESCO's world heritage list. All restoration research is preceded by interdisciplinary research focusing on identifying a building's construction history. Preserving the building's authenticity and integrating contemporary interventions and techniques are an integrated part of the design process that is intended to generate new uses.

Executive architect / Architectenbureau BARO Consulting
Ghent
www.architectenbureaubaro.be
Ever since the nineteen-sixties, Ghent-based BARO Firm of Architects has carried out a variety of assignments all across Flanders and Brussels, mostly for clients from the public sector. BARO Consulting is primarily an architect's firm that creates high quality user-oriented buildings made to human measure. However, on the basis of its day-to-day building expertise, BARO also developed a consultancy practice in various aspects of construction, including security, mediation in expert appraisals, patrimony decision advice as well as general technical advice in construction. In all its projects and consultancy BARO develops and stimulates a long-term vision that strives for sustainable and top-quality development of man-built environments.

Executive architect: SumProject
Brussels / Ghent
www.sum.be
Sum, a joint SumProject and SumResearch initiative, is a keen and active laboratory where confrontation and debate are mobilized to bring complex projects and assignments to an optimal and context-related end. SumProject is an open-minded, widely oriented architecture and engineering firm that performs thorough research in the area of  architecture, construction history, urban development and construction physics.

Special Techniques: VK Engineering
Bruges / Merelbeke / Roeselare / Brussels
www.vkgroup.be
VK has extensive experience in engineering complex, innovative constructions. In order to achieve that, VK often works together with leading national and international architects, including Richard Rogers, Kohn Pedersen Fox, Skidmore Owings & Merrill and Yves Lion. Advocating 'integrated design', VK considers engineering as an integrated part of the design process. This principle results in an optimal interaction between all disciplines within the architectural concept. The company's major focus is on sustainability, which has been its engineers' major concern for over a decade.

Construction physics advice: Daidalos Peutz Construction physics Engineering
Louvain
www.daidalospeutz.be
Daidalos Peutz Engineering is an independent consultancy agency for acoustics, construction physics and daylighting. Our integrated and multidisciplinary approach contributes to a comfortable interior climate and a sustainable building. In this project, we want to establish an optimal balance between construction-physical interventions in the monumental building envelope, minimal energy consumption and an optimal preservation climate for the books.

Stability: Bureau d'Etudes Greisch
Brussels / Liège
www.greisch.com
Bureau d'études Greisch means "accuracy in design in relation to efficiency, economy and functionality". The spirit of research and innovation has established the bureau as one of the most prominent in its kind, and has led to numerous collaborative ventures with some of the world's most renowned architects. The agency disposes of its own architectural cell (canevas) that stimulates the engineers to constantly question and search for new solutions, both on a formal and technical level. Within the team of designers, Bureau d'études Greisch leads the research for specific techniques for the restoration of the Book Tower's concrete façades.
