Book Tower closing

The Book Tower will be closed for renovations from 01/09/2014 through 04/01/2015.
During this period, the entire collection will be transferred to the new underground depot (see www.boekentoren.be). Later on, all public and staff areas will also be relocated from the Boekentoren to the Sint-Hubertusstraat (2015 to 2017). Below we have listed which services are and which won't be available during these time frames:

Collections

1 September – December 2014:
the Book Tower collections (with the exception of the external depots DEPA, DEPB and DEPC) cannot be requested during this period, this includes reference requests (unless digital versions are available)

Period 2015-2017:
the collections will be available again as from January 2015.

Study areas

From September 13th through 2017 there will be no study areas in the Book Tower or in the Sint-Hubertusstraat.

Services

Period September – December 2014:

  • The digital library will remain online 24/24 via the website and via SFX.
  • The service 'Request an article' has been added to lib.ugent.be. All articles from the Book Tower journals collection will be made available in PDF format - free of charge.
  • Services with regard to the collections from the external depots (DEPA, DEPB and DEPC) will continue to be available.
  • The interlibrary lending options for outgoing requests will remain available. It will continue to be possible to apply for books that are not available due to the relocation via the interlibrary service. Most deliveries will take place electronically (articles) or via the temporary distribution outlet.  FRANCIS LINKEN NAAR https://lib.ugent.be/user/signin

All services (with the exception of study areas) will be made available in the Sint-Hubertusstraat

Back office

Period September – December 2014:
all personnel will be deployed to ensure that all services will become available as soon as possible after relocation and to guarantee that services that are not temporarily discontinued will continue to be offered as usual.
