GENTBLOGT
www.boekentoren.be owes its existence to 'Gentblogt'. In 2005, 'Gentblogt' built a brand new website to support the Book Tower and presented it during a well-attended press conference on December 16th.
The general idea was to persuade the public to sponsor the renovation of the Book Tower by buying a step, or one or more square cm² of the façade, or by paying for a guided visit to the tower, or even by bidding for an exclusive brunch on the Book Tower's Belvedere.
In November 2006 the University Library took over the site, to use it mainly as an instrument for propaganda in the "Battle of Monuments". As of Friday September 26th, 2008, the site has begun a life of its own, with information about the building and its renovation.
